Join us for the 1st Annual Chekiel Wright Legacy Basketball Game- Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11 AM-3 PM in the Fugate Gymnasium at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.
Chekiel Wright, a proud North High School alum, ranked among Wichita’s top high school point guards. He played summer ball with Showtyme MAYB & Team KS Heat, finished his senior summer season undefeated, & led the KS Redhawks to the 2010 MAYB National Title.
Chekiel devoted himself to his two daughters, Danielle & Hayden, who meant the world to him. Friends & family remember him for his adventurous spirit, kindness, & the joy he brought to everyone around him. He left a legacy of love, determination, & lasting impact.
Our community continues to feel Chekiel’s inspiration. The Chekiel Wright Legacy Basketball Game celebrates his life by bringing people together for competitive basketball, community celebration, & remembrance. This annual event supports statewide awareness & education initiatives & provides critical services to families affected by impaired driving across Kansas.
